A Note From Brandon’s Parents:

While nothing can change May 9, 2016, we have chosen to honor Brandon and his desire to help others move forward in their lives through the Brandon D. Harvin Memorial Scholarship Fund.  A ministry of It’s Time Ministries, the fund provides scholarships to youth who have demonstrated through means beyond mere academic achievement an enormous potential to make an impact for Christ upon the world.

On today, May 9, 2023, it is our honor to announce the 2023 recipients of the Brandon D. Harvin Memorial Scholarship.  Our recipients will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.  We are committed to praying for their success and look forward to the great things they will do for Christ.

Our 2023 recipients are:

Alexander Bolton

Alexander Bolton is a graduating senior at Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, SC and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church BRR in Camden, SC. He will be attending Brevard College in the fall, where he will be majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Communications as a student-athlete on the Brevard Tornados’ football team.

Alexander is a two-time state champion on the Dutch Fork High School varsity football team and recently served as a volunteer football coach for elementary students at Ben Lippen School in Columbia, SC. He has also been involved in the Dutch Fork High School chorus as well as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In his church, Alexander serves on the Audio-Visual/Sound team, Youth Ministry, Youth Choir, and Outreach Ministry, and helps with back-to-school, Christmas, and Thanksgiving giveaways as well as serving in their soup kitchen.

A deeply purpose-driven person, Alexander aspires to create his own marketing firm and sees entrepreneurship as a way to create opportunities, help others reach their dreams, and help individuals provide for their families. Through both his work and personal life, he also hopes to use social media as a way to impact the world for Christ by building a social media presence that expresses his values and helping clients do the same. He hopes that those coming to his page to watch his sports highlights will find much more than just that and believes we can all use our influence to share our faith and inspiration with others.

Alyssa Jordyn Mihlbauer

Alyssa Jordyn Mihlbauer is a graduating senior at Sumter High School and a member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, SC. Jordyn plans to further her education by pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering with a minor in Environmental Science, with plans to be an environmental engineer.

Jordyn has a deep passion for service that is reflected in her extensive community involvement. In school, she serves as the Senior Class Vice President and created a school-wide initiative educating the community about the dangers of texting while driving. She also served as the president for Sumter High’s chapter of Junior Civitans, an international student-led service organization, is first chair in the Sumter High School Symphonic Honors Band, and is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. Outside of school, she is involved in numerous volunteer organizations, including Girl Scouts, the NAACP’s youth branch, and DHEC’s Take Action SC Student Ambassador for Sustainability program. In her church, she serves in the youth and educational ministries.

Jordyn believes that through service and supporting the well-being of those in your community, we all have the opportunity to make an impact on the world for Christ and develop greater love, compassion, and empathy in the process. She plans to embody these principles as she enters the next chapter of her education and career—both in and out of the classroom.
