About the Scholarship

The Brandon D. Harvin Memorial Scholarship Fund is currently accepting applications for its 2024-2025 scholarship awards. These $1,000 awards will financially support select South Carolina students from Richland, Sumter, and Lexington counties who have demonstrated through means beyond mere academic achievement an enormous potential to make an impact for Christ upon the world.

Scholarship Guidelines

In order to be eligible for a scholarship from the Brandon D. Harvin Memorial Scholarship Fund, students must:

1. Have graduated (or will graduate) from a South Carolina high school in Richland, Sumter, or Lexington counties

2. Be enrolled in a trade school, technical school, community college, or four-year college/university during the 2024-2025 academic year

3. Be an active member of a Christian church

4. Submit a completed application packet to the Brandon D. Harvin Memorial Scholarship Fund by April 21, 2024.

The submitted application packet must include:

a. Completed scholarship application, typed or written in black or blue ink

b. Most recent academic transcript. (Though your academic transcript is required, there is no specific GPA requirement for this scholarship, and selection will be based on your several factors such as character, involvement, and potential to impact the world for Christ. We encourage students of all academic backgrounds to apply for this scholarship.)

c. Two letters of recommendation (May be emailed to [email protected] by recommenders)

i. (1) From the applicant’s Pastor or Youth Pastor

ii. (1) From a teacher, administrator, advisor, community leader, or any other person who has supervised the student in a formal role

d. Essay of no more than 750 words on the following topic:

What are your plans for the future, and how do you intend to use your educational track to impact the world for Christ?

One of the recommendations must be from your Pastor or Youth Pastor.

The Selection Committee reserves the right to contact those providing you a recommendation if we have any further questions.

VII. ESSAY

You must complete an essay (750 words or less) about your future plans and how you intend to use your educational track to impact the world for Christ.
